Charlie is building the future of banking for the coming wave of millions of tech comfortable retirees who deserve a bank built from the ground up for their unique needs, a bank they don’t have to get in line for, a bank that comes to them.
We are seeking a highly skilled Frontend Engineer to our team. This role will be responsible for creating a simple, transparent, and delightful banking experience for tech comfortable retirees. You will be collaborating with everyone in the tech and product team to architect and build new systems from the ground up as well as maintain existing systems. It is a unique and challenging role, which will provide you with immense opportunity to design and develop wide-reaching tools. We are an early-stage startup and we expect every member of our team to roll-up their sleeves and do what is needed to deliver an amazing customer experience.
You’d be ing a highly experienced group of founders including our CEO Kevin Nazemi, who served as the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Oscar Health (NYSE: OSCR), and a company financially ed by some of the most respected FinTech Investors.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, test, integrate and document complex frontend applications. Champion the design and development of application software by delivering well-tested, high quality, highly optimized, highly performant software. You are expected to hold yourself to the highest standard and pay close attention to detail in everything you deliver.
- Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and understanding of UX and visual design concepts. Provide thought leadership on front-end technologies and their overall impact on the creative process.
- Understand use cases for advanced design patterns to implement efficient code; understand and implement REST API standards to drive API/service adoption; follow a Test Driven Development approach.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to estimate requirements (e.g., story pointing) in incremental Agile delivery, and prioritize based on business value. Anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before they require escalation.
- Follow agreed-upon coding standards and integration methodologies closely to facilitate working with a growing, distributed global team.
- Participate actively in design and code review sessions. Advocate for innovation and adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) best practices. Be able for ensuring that all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
- Write easily maintainable code that you or anyone else can work with effortlessly. Continuously maintain and improve your work, and promptly and effectively resolve bugs. Collaborate closely with the customer service team to resolve customer issues with the quickest possible turnaround time.
- We are a startup: Every team member is critical to our success, wears many hats and takes on additional responsibilities.
- 5+ years of solid experience working on JavaScript/Typescript applications built with a modern Javascript framework such as React, Angular, Vue, or Ember. We use Angular 16. Experience with Angular is not required as long as you are willing to learn and use it on the job.
- Excellent HTML5 / CSS3 skills.
- Advocacy towards embracing Test Driven Development (TDD) and experience with UI testing and automation frameworks.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience creating accessible (ADA compliant) responsive web interfaces is an added bonus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with dexterity working with a variety of individuals and groups, both in-person and virtually with remote team that are geographically spread across the world. Being a team player who respects diversity and a multitude of cultures on the team is a must.
